Sailor Moon Artists United Frequently Asked Questions

General

Hours of Operation

Support Center

Because all the admins have families and other full time jobs, the support center does not have stable hours. Please be respectful that we run this site for free on our own time.

Wednesday through Sunday CST

Intermittent times from 7am - 2pm

Monday and Tuesday CST

Closed

Contact

If after hours and you need a response as quickly as possible, use the Contact page and choose the closest option available. Still submit a ticket through the Support Center (when applicable). Be as detailed as possible. Currently, Lantiis is the only one answering messages via Contact.

The Open Beta

As of September 10 2014, the open beta is closed.

At this time, no major changes to the site will be made to keep it as stable as possible. Core features are in place and we will do our best to keep these features in proper working order at all times. Please understand though that as technology moves forward that some things will change over time.

Known Issues and Recent Fixes

Please use the SUPPORT CENTER to make all reports. Thank you!

General Site

- tagging / being tagged results in you being taken to the user's profile that tagged you instead of the actual comment, image, etc you were tagged on

Mobile Devices

- on some mobile devices, commenting is disabled (no available workaround, sorry)

Legal Questions

Someone asked us, "Won't you get sued?"

No.

If running a fansite was a sue-able offense, there would be no fansites. If running a social site was a sue-able offense, there would be no social sites. This site is not illegal, and we intend to do everything in our power to ensure nothing illegal happens between users on this site (or on the site period).

With that said, if for whatever reason something happens on this site that someone can get sued for, we will put a stop to it before it ever gets that far. Because, like we repeat over and over and over again everywhere in our terms, FAQ, forums and policies: We reserve the right to remove any user and content from this site at any time for any reason (and there is nothing you can do about it).

So if it looks questionable or enough people question it, say goodbye to whatever it is.

To make your reports to remove offensive or illegal content, use the Support Center.

Joining SMAU

How do I join?

When you visit our website, you will be directed tothe Moon Kingdom wall with our members. On the top left is Sign In and Sign Up:

A little below that on the right hand side is Join Now:

Click either Join Now or Sign Up and fill out the form.

How do I fill out the membership form?

There are several levels to the form. At the very top is About Me. All items in that section are required.

The next category is Favorites. The Canon Character must be filled in or your form will not submit. The rest of this section is optional.

After that is Find Me. Nothing is required in this section but you can share with us everywhere you post online if you like.

Finally, we come to the My OCs category. The only required slot is My Signature Senshi. Since we are a Sailor Moon fansite, please list your personal fansenshi here or your Signature Senshi if you have one. If you have neither and are just a fan who wants to join, put "none."

At the end of the form, you can upload an image to use as your avatar under "User photo." Then you must agree to the terms of use (we at SMAU suggest reading them first) and then pass the Captcha test so we know you aren't a bot.

Simply click JOIN once all that is done.

Welcome to the site!

Are there restrictions on who can join SMAU?

YES

There is one restriction. We do not allow people to join who are under the age of 13 years old. This is due to legal reasons. It is simply illegal for SMAU and it's membership to ask for or accept personal information from persons under the age of 13 years old. Please read more here.

Suggestions

We suggest not joining our website if you are not a fan of Sailor Moon. While being a fan is not a requirement to join the site, we are a SAILOR MOON FANSITE. All you will see here is Sailor Moon related content.

Avatars and Cover Images

Images used for avatars or cover images should not fall into any of our Prohibited Content.

You may use fan-made or canon imagery for your cover images and avatars. While credit is not required for such uses, please note that if a report (3rd party or other) is received that a particular image is used without proper consent, it will be removed and your account suspended for 30 days. When in doubt, don't use images that are not yours.

Appealing a Ban / Suspension

As as rule, we do not allow ban appeals for any member found operating in a way that falls under our Prohibited Content or Copyright Infringement. We have a zero tolerance policy for this sort of behavior. If you are given a date for an end to your suspended status, that is the day in which you can appeal to have your account back. We do not automatically restore suspended accounts. You must contact the site administration through the Contact page (link at the bottom of every page of SMAU).

Minors may appeal their suspension once they are 13 years old. At that time, they may contact the site to inform us of their change in status. We may give back a suspended account or request a new one be created. Such a decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.

To appeal a ban or suspension (or attempt to), please use the Contact page found at the bottom of every page.

Dating vs Roleplay

Dating is prohibited on SMAU. We are NOT a dating site.

You may connect with loved ones, but all sexual content between SMAU members must be kept OFF THE SITE.

VS Roleplay

Roleplaying (RPs) is allowed on SMAU. HOWEVER it is your OCs who should be dating, not you. Sexual content must remain a minimum. And nothing you post should include anything from our prohibited content.

Profane Language: Cussing

Cursing and profanity is to be kept to a minimum on SMAU. This does not exclude you from using profanity on the site. However it must be tasteful or done with parody or humor in mind.

Example 1:

You create a meme that includes a curse word but is humorous. That is okay.

Example 2:

You tell a member to f*off. Not okay and is a bannable offense.

Stalking

Behavior that looks like or is actually stalking of another member is not allowed. Yes, you will always cross paths in the fandom, but if your copying and following of a member here is brought to our attention with proof of this stalking behavior over several sites, your account will be indefinitely suspended or banned.

Site Content

Prohibited Content

Porn

Images portraying sexual actions or objects (masturbation, intercourse, sex toys) are not allowed. This content submitted with an attempt to censor it is also not allowed.

Adult Content

Labial or anal spreading, erections, penetration, clear bestiality, censoring of clearly pornographic content, sexual fluids present (or fluids clearly there for sexual purposes) are not allowed.

Graphic Violence

Excessive blood, violence and any imagery which shows the results of severe trauma (scarring, bruising, dried blood, bandaged bloody wounds) is not allowed.

Nudity

Nudity for the sake of nudity is not allowed. Nudity in graphic detail of private parts is not allowed.

Fandom Content

Sailor Moon

All Sailor Moon related works are allowed on SMAU. This includes:

- Crossovers

- Dress-ups

- AU and Power-Ups

- Canon Fanarts

- OC Fanarts

- Memes

- Stock

- Cosplay

- Crafts

Etc...

So long as it has to do with Sailor Moon in some way, it is acceptable on this website.

Restrictions

Please note we do not restrict any art in particular (besides art falling into our prohibited content), but if your personal gallery is full of non-Sailor Moon related works, we may place a restriction on what you can upload.

Each member is more than welcome to have a few folders in their gallery where they post art from other fandoms or completely original works. The same goes for groups that are created but are not Sailor Moon related.

However the basis for all content on this site, and the most widely viewed, posted, commented... is Sailor Moon.

Transparent GIFs and PNGs

This also applies to other files that may have transparency...

We are working on it. If you don't want your images to have a black background, please save it with a white (or other type of) background before uploading. If you forgot (or didn't know), simply remove the file and reupload with the version that includes a background.

We are working on trying to include the ability to upload transparent files. However, until such time as we get that working, transparent files need to be sent in a zip file as an attachment in order for them to be received and retain their transparency.

Yuri and Yaoi

Soft yuri and yaoi are allowed. Sexual positioning and love scenes are allowed so long as they do not cross into the prohibited content. (No, anthro OCs in love is NOT bestiality.)

For characters that are commonly portrayed as minors, you are allowed to age them to adulthood IF and ONLY IF you have a purpose other than wanting to portray them in a sexual way. This will be allowed on a case-by-case basis and only if the work does not cross over into the prohibited content.

Minor Characters

Whether fictional or not, no minor (person under 18 years old) may be portrayed in a sexual way or nude for any reason.

Comments

You may not use the comment, chat, forum or message system to make lewd, racist, bigoted comments or comments that contain any type of hate speech.

Profanity is allowed but is to be kept to a minimum. Profanity should not be used to demoralize or bully (creating a meme with a curse word for fun would be an okay use of profanity whereas telling someone to f*off is not).

Roleplays are to be confined to the forums and groups.

Comments should never include any personally identifiable information or your password (to this or any site).

Comments, messages, chats and forum posts may not be used to beg for or otherwise attempt to entice others to hire or pay you for anything.

Begging for freebies and/or permissions is not tolerated.

Site Tools

Privacy Options

Finding your privacy settings...

In the top bar, hover over your user icon. In the drop down menu, click on "Privacy."

Editing your privacy

You can choose who can view certain aspects of your activity on SMAU. Your options are everyone, your friends (people you have sent or accepted friend requests from) and only yourself.

Why adjust your privacy?

SMAU uses a block feature similar to that of Twitter. You can block someone who will then not be able to contact you or find you in members. However, with your direct profile link, they can still get to your profile. They can also still see your feed in the public channel if one of their friends interacts with it. By utilizing your privacy options, you can better protect yourself from prying eyes you don't want prying.

Support Center

Using the Support Center

You have three options in the support center: read an article, submit a ticket or view your tickets.

Articles

If we have received enough feedback on something or enough problems with something, there will be an article on the topic. Please always look for an article on a topic or a FAQ on a topic before submitting a ticket about it. If you submit a ticket on a topic that has already been addressed, we will simply redirect you.

Submit a Ticket

Click to submit a ticket.

Give as much detail as you can to include screenshots and other attachable content that will help your case. Then choose the best category to describe your particular issue. Finally, choose one of the four departments to send your ticket to.

View my Tickets

Click to view open / closed tickets.

We do not delete tickets. Please refer back to previous tickets if you need to. Please do not submit additional tickets for the same issue - simply add a comment to the current ticket.

Feedback and Contacting Us

General Feedback

Rate the site and give feedback here.

For specific issues with the site, trouble tickets, issues with members, etc, please use the Support Center. The Feedback page is for general feedback to let us know how you like the site or what new things you think you want to have access to on the site.

Contacting Us

If you are unable to reach us in a timely manner through the Support Center or, as it is in some cases, you must appeal a ban/suspension so do not have access to the Support Center, please use the Contact form. Do not make site reports or give feedback through the Contact form.

Promote

Promoting is an option allowed on SMAU. You can promote yourself, your blogs, art, groups, videos, etc. Please feel free to network but don't over-do it and spam the site.

My Moon Channel

This is your personal channel where only you, your friends and items you have interacted with show up. People not on your friends list and content you have not acted upon (or content that does not specifically mention you) will not be found in this channel.

If you want all site activity and content, click on the MINI COMPUTER which will take you to a much more 'diverse' page full of what everyone is doing on SMAU.

Mini Computer

The MINI COMPUTER is the SMAU gateway and holds all the most current site activity for all members.

If you simply want to see content that applies directly to you, visit your MOON CHANNEL.

Blocking a User

Before making reports that a member is bothering you, please go to their profile and BLOCK THEM.

When you block them, they can no longer send you messages or comment to you.

If you choose to block a user and then go and make comments to them or send them messages, you will be removed from the site for harassment. We have a zero tolerance harassment policy.

Please, the second a blocked individual evades a block, use the Support Center to report that individual. We have a very low tolerance for such anti-community behavior and will deal with the issue swiftly.

Report Profile, Page or Images

Reporting things that you dislike.

SMAU allows this.

Please note that what actually gets removed is at the discretion of the admin reviewing the ticket and what is stated in the TOS and other policies at the time the ticket is received. If you disagree with the outcome of any report, you may contact the Site Administration via the Contact form OR use the Support Center to request a clarification on a certain policy area.

How to Report

Yes, when you report a profile, you are also reporting the user.

Within 5 minutes, if the email you entered is correct, you will get an email from SMAU with directions on how to update your password. If you do not get the email and are 100% positive you used the correct email address, please check your junkmail.

If the email on your account was entered incorrectly or you simply never get an email from SMAU, please contact the Website Administration via Contact Us at the bottom of the page. Founding and Founder Conduct

Founding

Groups must have a positive vibe to them. No groups about the butthurt of some people, callout groups, groups that promote negativity or harassment, etc. Groups do not HAVE to be Sailor Moon related, but cannot exclude Sailor Moon works.

Founder Conduct

Founders are expected to be somewhat present for their groups. Please do not create and completely disappear. Founders are not dictators and cannot circumvent the policies of SMAU through their group(s). Founders do have the right to remove members from their group who are not the right fit. This is at the founder's discretion, not SMAU's.

Member Conduct

If you choose to behave in a way the group founder, other group members or the SMAU administration finds to be outside the theme and spirit of the group, you can be (and most likely will be) removed from the group.

If the behavior(s) continues, you could be removed from the website completely.

Messaging and Invites

Founders

Do not abuse the messaging and invite features. Try to use the mass messaging once a week or less. Do not send more than two invites to a site member.

Members

If the messaging or invites become a problem for you, please report the issue via the Support Center so the admins can look into the behavior.

Forums

Group forums are used in the same way the regular forums are used. Please use your own judgement when setting up the forums for your group.

Meet-ups

You may schedule and plan meet-ups. You may not use SMAU to transfer personal information about yourself or others to do it. Please use your private emails for that. However, discussion on possible locations for the meet-up, events/activities at the meet-up, costs, etc can be discussed on SMAU.

Crowdfunding on SMAU

This option has currently been suspended.

Using "Projects"

Crowdfunding (like Kickstarter, IndieGoGo or GoFundMe) is available to VIP and Admin members only. Anyone can donate to and comment on a project though.

Types of Projects

There are 4 types of projects a SMAU member is allowed to crowdfund for. SMAU itself uses the fifth option of OFFICIAL FUNDRAISER. If you are found to be using the SMAU Official Fundraiser, your Project will be ended and you will be removed from the site permanently. We do not tolerate fraudulent crowdfunding projects.

If you start a crowdfunding project, make sure you have your PayPal email correctly entered. SMAU is not responsible for money that goes into the ether of the internet.
